In his witness statement of September 26, 1997, Damian Daley claims that in his cell confession, Michael Stone used the word “paupers” to describe his victims. As Stone pointed out in a letter from prison, this is not the sort of word either man would be likely to use, and, curiously, the same word appeared twice in the Daily Mirror on September 23, three days before the statement was taken. The reader is invited to compare the third page of this statement with the scans of the relevant sections from the Daily Mirror, and draw his own conclusions.
